Kadette Cape Blend 2024

Kanonkop, fact sheet (kanonkop.co.za – linket fra kanonkop.co.za, hentet 2026-10-18): 2024 Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend – område: Stellenbosch; 34% Pinotage, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot; alkohol 14%. Producentens noter (engelsk): Soil: Decomposed Granite and Hutton. Age of vines: 5 to 30 years old. Irrigation: Supplemented irrigation. Trellising: 5 wire hedge. Yield: 7 tons per hectare. Vintage conditions: A cold and sufficiently wet winter. A warmer August led to early budding. Ripening conditions were good, with harvest starting 10 days early. This vintage produced wines that are elegant and age-worthy. Winemaking/maturation: Fermentation took place in open-top concrete fermenters at 28°C. The floating skins were punched down mechanically every 2 hours during fermentation. The juice was drawn off the skins after 3 - 5 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured for 12 months in 2nd and 3rd fill 225L French Nevers oak barrels.
