Dry Riesling 2011

Felton Road, tasting note (feltonroad.com – produktside feltonroad.com, hentet 2026-10-19): 2011 Felton Road Dry Riesling – område: Bannockburn (Central Otago); drue: Riesling. Producentens noter (engelsk): Tasting note: The nose has ripe fruit notes of pear and stonefruit accompanying the classic citrus flowers. By contrast the palate is mineral dominated: dry but not harsh, with schisty, slatey notes overlying bright fruit and a rich, solid texture. A crisp and very clean, tight finish. Vineyard & viticulture: Felton Road farms three properties totaling 32 ha in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. Meticulous summer management of a single vertical shoot positioned (VSP) canopy ensures even and early fruit maturity. Shoot thinning, shoot positioning, leaf plucking, bunch thinning and harvest are all carried out by hand to ensure optimum quality fruit. Cover crops are planted between rows to assist in vine balance and to improve soil health and general biodiversity. Vinification: Riesling grapes from Calvert and The Elms vineyards were carefully whole bunch pressed, settled overnight, racked, then a long slow fermentation (6-9 weeks) with indigenous yeasts to almost complete dryness (3.0 g/L RS). The wine rested on fine lees to build palate weight and with minimal processing to highlight the delicate Riesling characters before bottling in early October.
