Producentens noter (engelsk): ESCARPMENT PAHI 2022 MARTINBOROUGH PINOT NOIR SINGLE VINEYARD Pahi is the name of an exceptional vineyard site on Te Muna Road. This beautiful vineyard is owned by Escarpment and devoted entirely to Pinot Noir, which grows on the famous alluvial soils of the Martinborough Terraces. Winemaker’s notes The Pahi Vineyard is situated on Te Muna Road adjacent to the Escarpment Vineyard. Planted in 2003, this site possesses the alluvial, free draining gravel soils which has made Martinborough famous for its great Pinot Noirs. The grapes for this wine were hand picked over two days with the final wine comprised of clones 115, Cl5 and Abel, giving a diverse range of flavours and a distinctive expression of Pinot Noir. Fermentation in open top traditional cuves with indigenous yeast was hand plunged once daily, with a total vat time of 28 days. After pressing, the wine was matured in 30% new French oak barriques for 20 months, without racking. It was bottled without fining or filtration, promoting soft mouth feel. Tasting This is an outstanding example of classic Martinborough Pinot Noir, which encompasses the very best of Te Muna Road. The wine has a lifted mouthfeel. There is a lovely more-ish nature to this wine, which Screwcap showcases purity and minerality from the cooler year of 2022. fragrance of goji berry, anise, dried apricot, vanilla, red berries and spice.
